Black Quantum Futurism is a Philadelphia-based interdisciplinary collaboration between Camae Ayewa and Rasheedah Phillips, blending quantum physics, Afrofuturism, and Afrodiasporic concepts of time, ritual, text, and sound together in works to escape oppression in temporality, science and technology.
Black Quantum Futurism has created a number of community-based projects, performances, music projects, workshops, books, short films, and zines. The collective has e.g. presented, exhibited, and performed at the Red Bull Arts New York (US), Philadelphia Art Museum (US), MOMA PS1 (US), Chicago Architecture Biennial (US), Eyebeam Institute (US), Art Basel (US), Queens Museum (US), Harvard University (US), Institute of Contemporary Art Philadelphia (US), Dhaka Art Summit 2020 (SN), Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (SE), Serpentine Gallery Pavilion (UK), Bergen Kunsthall (NO), Institute of Contemporary Art (UK), Onassis Cultural Center (GR), Le Gaît Lyrique (FR), Transmediale Festival (DE), MOFO Festival (AU), Valongo Festival (BR), Blackwood Gallery (CA), the Israeli Center of Digital Art (IL), Goldsmiths, University of London (UK), and Yale University (US).
